(The examples used below may involve
commercial sites. They are not meant as an endorsement of that
particular brand or company. They are used only as an example of
what is available and what those systems look like.) Nasal Cannulas - A cannula is the two-pronged device inserted into your nostrils. It is connected to an oxygen cylinder or concentrator/vessel. There are several different types and sizes of cannulas. It is important to get the correct type as well as size just for your own particular equipment and you. Oxygen Mask - An oxygen mask is usually for people who need a high flow of oxygen. Or, some folks use a nasal cannula during the day and a mask at night, or if your nose is irritated or clogged by a cold. Transtracheal Oxygen Catheter - This system requires the permanent insertion of a catheter in the windpipe or trachea. A "necklace" holds the tubing and catheter in place. Return to Oxygen Therapy |
