Systemic scleroderma can and will affect the
lungs. Possible pulmonary problem include: Pulmonary
Hypertension, Lung Abscesses, Pulmonary Fibrosis, Aspiration
Pneumonia, and Pleural Effusions. Careful monitoring can detect

Scleroderma Lung Study. Subjects with Scleroderma Needed for Study of Effectiveness of Treatment for Active, Symptomatic Pulmonary Alveolitis due to Systemic Sclerosis - Recruiting from 6-1-2000 to 12-31-2002. This is a nationwide study to evaluate the effectiveness of oral cyclophosphamide versus oral placebo in the treatment of active, symptomatic lung disease (pulmonary alveolitis) due to scleroderma. The goals of this study are to determine if lung function, quality of life and the ability to function has improved with therapy.
